Make Your Own Lorax-Inspired Pixie Sticks

I've been meaning to try making my own pixie sticks for a long time and with Earth Day coming up, it seemed like a good opportunity to make them with a Lorax theme. Of course, these would be a fun extension for The Lorax anytime.

Torn Paper Holly Craft {Double Fail}

Torn Paper Craft from Reading Confetti

We recently read The Very Snowy Christmas by Diana Hendry.  Little Mouse goes out in search of holly on Christmas Eve.  On the way he encounters pieces of the sky falling (snow), a strange monster (his reflection), something invisible chasing him (his own paw prints), and a huge white mouse staring at him (a snow mouse built by Big Mouse).  When Big Mouse finally manages to calm Little Mouse, Little Mouse finds that he actually enjoys playing in the snow and it's a perfect Christmas Eve after all.

Natural Ice Boats

When I first saw ice boats made with drinking straws and paper sails, I knew my kids would love them.  But since we wanted to float them on a lake, I had to come up with a way to make them that wouldn't leave litter behind.

Easter Egg Balloons & Kid's Co-op Link Party 8

One of the Easter books we like is Happy Easter, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff who also wrote the If You Give... series.  Mouse dyes some Easter eggs and the next morning he finds different colored eggs hidden everywhere by the bunny.  This is a great book for practicing colors and counting.
