10 Fall Science Activities: Kid's Co-op

Most of the science activities linked to the Kid's Co-op would be great year round, but I think these are especially fun for fall because they involve things like pumpkins, ghosts, and candy which are perfect for Halloween science learning. Many of them also offer the chance to get outdoors and enjoy the crisp fall weather before some of us get covered in snow.

Paper Owl Craft

My sister recently made some owls with her Sunday school class and they turned out so cute, I asked her if she would share how she made them. I think owl crafts are adorable and I love any craft that uses simple materials like construction paper and glue. This one is perfect for fall.

Candy Corn Counting and Math

We're having so much fun participating in Learn~Play~Imagine's candy series. On Monday, we painted some fall trees using Nerds candy and today we're using candy to practice counting and math. Apparently I LOVE fall trees, because this math activity involves them too. We used candy corn for the leaves this time. You can easily adjust this activity for older kids by using math facts instead of numbers.

Painting with Candy: Nerds Watercolor Trees

I'm excited to be participating in Play~Learn~Imagine's candy series. Throughout the week, some great bloggers are sharing over 30 ways to create, learn, and explore with candy. Today's topic is painting with candy. Our contribution is colorful fall watercolor trees made with Nerds. They're fun to make and almost any colorful candy will do, so it's a great way to use up candy from your kids' trick-or-treat bags without actually eating it.

Instead of eating all that Halloween candy, kids can use it to make colorful fall trees.

30+ Apple Activities and Books: Kid's Co-op

One of my favorite parts of fall is visiting the apple orchard. In fact, we went three different times last year. Since it's not possible to visit every day (though we'd like to), we read lots of apple books and do lots of apple crafts instead. The Kid's Co-op has been full of fun ideas for crafts, sensory play, and learning activities with an apple theme that kids will love.

Fall Tree Craft

We did a variation of our apple tree craft and made fall trees using empty toilet paper rolls and coffee filters. They're easy enough for a preschooler to make with only a little help and they make a great decoration for fall.

Easy Apple Tree Preschool Craft

One of the things we look forward to every fall is visiting the apple orchard. Since it's still too early to pick apples, we settled for making our own apple trees from toilet paper rolls, tissue paper, and a bingo marker. This 3-D apple tree craft is so easy that my preschoolers could do it without help and so cute that they wanted to make an entire forest of them.

12 Ways to Use Leaves: Kid's Co-op

We recently discovered a new fall favorite.  Leaves is an adorable story about a young bear's first year.  When the leaves start to fall, he becomes concerned and tries to put them back on the trees.  Eventually he grows sleepy, makes a bed of leaves, and wakes in the spring to new leaves.  With simple text and gorgeous illustrations this is the perfect book to use when talking about seasons, hibernation, or leaves.
