In Strega Nona's Harvest, Strega Nona helps some children plant a garden of vegetables. She instructs them carefully in how to plant an orderly garden. One of the boys decides to plant his own garden using her growing spell, but he doesn't plant his garden in the neat way he has been taught. His garden goes crazy and turns into a vegetable jungle! Not knowing what else to do with his harvest, he secretly leaves the vegetables outside Strega Nona's door. She has so much food that she shares her bounty with the whole village. This book has lots of factual information about growing a garden disguised in a fun story.
To go with our book, we did a Thanksgiving corn craft. This was easy and turned out cute. We started with toilet paper rolls, small squares of torn paper, and some homemade Mod Podge (glue thinned with water.)
