Apple Trees {Paper Plate Craft}

The Biggest Apple Ever is a great book for fall.  On the first day of school two little mice, Clayton and Desmond, learn about a contest to bring in the biggest apple for the teacher.  After a field trip to Barnaby's Orchard, they still can't find the biggest apple.  In the end, they decide to use their apples in a creative way instead.

My two year old and I created our own apple trees by painting the bottom of a paper plate green.
We added a construction paper trunk and used a cotton swab to make little red apples.  I offered a cotton ball for bigger apples, but she wasn't interested.  That was the only part my four year old was interested in, so he took over my tree.
We talked about the biggest apples on the tree and the smallest apples on the tree.
