I'm a K teacher and I recently made "ice cubes" for my kids with tempera paint and water. The tempera paint stained the sidewalk at our school and I had to scrub it off with industrial strength cleanser. The paint is still there, but it is faded. I was VERY excited to see your suggestion to freeze chalk! Too bad I didn't see it a week ago! Food coloring will wear off hand much easier than scrubbing paint off the sidewalk!
