Stamped Clay Ornaments: Random Crafts of Kindness

When I received an opportunity to work with Consumer Crafts on a random acts of kindness project, I immediately knew who I wanted to create something for. Down the block from me lives a single mother with a very busy toddler. Every time we see her at the park or the library, she is cheerfully chasing him around. I watch her and I wonder where she gets all that energy without a break. I wonder how she finds time to do things for herself. I wanted to leave a small gift in her mailbox to let her know that somebody notices how hard she is trying and what a good job she is doing with her son. My kids and I worked together to make these stamped clay ornaments. They were so easy to make that we ended up making more for Christmas presents.

Supplies:

This project is so simple, but there are so many possibilities. Just roll out the clay and make an impression with whatever you have on hand.

Cut the clay with a cookie cutter and make a hole for the string with a drinking straw.

After the ornaments are dry, thread the yarn through and they are ready to hang.

You can use stamps and an ink pad to add words.

Here's one my four year old painted. I added a layer of glaze to the top.

They fit perfectly into a star-shaped paper mache box.

(I'm a little obsessed with Consumer Craft's paper mache boxes. I used them for this year's advent calendar too.)
