Stuff & DIY Picture Postcards

I love Margie Palatini's books because there's always some humor that even adults can appreciate while still being geared for young readers.  Her book Stuff is a great example.  Edward the Rabbit has stuff.  He likes having stuff.  A lot of stuff.  Well, let's just say it - Edward is a hoarder.  His stuff gets in the way of his relationships with his friends, Anthony the Beaver and Marguerite the Cat.  He's too busy with his stuff.  Eventually, he gets buried in his stuff and realizes stuff is boring and other people (well, animals) are what's really important.

Boy, did we get stuff for Christmas.  To thank everybody for all the stuff, I made some postcards. I started by taking pictures of my kids playing with the gifts they got for Christmas.   In this case, I took a picture of the kids with the library bags my sister made for them (all those hints finally paid off!)

Cooperative, as usual
After I had the pictures, I uploaded them to Picasa.  You can download it for free!  I'm sure you can do something similar in Picnik as well.

I selected the pictures I wanted and chose "Create collage."  Then I added text.
I had the 4 x 6 pictures printed and then I used the Avery 5292 Shipping Labels .  I downloaded the free template from Avery and wrote a thank you message on the the left side, and the address on the right before I printed them off.  They stuck right to the back and were ready to send!

I did a separate thank you card for each giver but you could just as easily do one version for everybody.

I love this post! Thanks for sharing! I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the library bags! Those rock! I too have a little bit of a library addiction. If I go without my bag, it is not pretty. My husband has teased me for 4 years now about my love for the library and children books! The teacher in me just comes out when I am there! :)

Fabulous idea!!! I'm sure that was the best 'thank you' ever--not only in words, but images that show appreciation for the gifts given. Thanks so much for sharing it at the Kiss & Tell party over at my place <3

Thank you! I've been wanting to make photo postcards, but I hadn't seen those label before. That solves my problem of the printing on the back of the photos.
