Keepsake Personalized Handprint Trees

I get all sentimental at Christmas.  I can't help it.  I know the time is going to fly by, and I always want to remember what my kids were like when they were this little.  So when I came across this hand print turkey family from eighteen 25, I knew I wanted to do a Christmas version.

First I traced and cut out my kids' hand prints on scrapbook paper and added a trunk.  I had a floating frame already and didn't want to buy anything, but for a regular frame, just cut a piece of paper for your background.
I added stars with their pictures on top.

Then I added "ornaments" made from images of things that they like this year.  Natalie (11) got a ipod touch screen, a volleyball, and a music note.  Drew (3) got toy trucks, Star Wars Legos, and Diego.  Lainey (2) got babies, kitties, and Calliou.
Finally, I added the date and a gift with what each of them wants most for Christmas:  cell phone (so not happening), snow globe, and princess.
If this becomes a tradition, I'll have the kids help me decide what to put on each tree.

A cute book about Christmas traditions each year is Was That Christmas?  It's about Bella and her kitten, Black Jack.  The first two years of their lives, they didn't know what Christmas was all about.  The first year they chewed up wrapping paper and the second they climbed the Christmas tree but the third year Ella finds out what it's all about.  She appears in her preschool Christmas play and Santa comes to school, but Ella is disappointed because he doesn't have reindeer and he hasn't brought a present for Black Jack.  Ella's mom assures her that it's not Christmas yet, and that there a lots of fun preparations ahead.  They bake, decorate, and get ready and it's Christmas at last.

That is so lovely, I did footprints of each of my 3 children when my youngest was a newborn. I have them framed together in varying sizes. I love that I will be able to look back and see how tiny they once were. I am a new follower x

I love how personalized these are! You could change out the trees each year and place the previous year's in a scrapbook.
