3 Things

First, I'm excited to be doing a guest post today over at Happily Mother After.  I'm sharing a fun handprint craft to go with A Wish to Be a Christmas Tree.  I hope you come check it out!
Second, I wanted to share the fourth day of our book advent. We read A Very Special Snowflake.  This isn't really a Christmas book but it's cute for wintertime.  Jeff and Veronica take their puppy, Snowflake, out to play in the snow.  Snowflake gets lost and the children go around town looking for him.  It's snowing, so whenever they ask someone if they've seen Snowflake they misunderstand and the reply is, "There are snowflakes everywhere!" or something similar.  Of course, they eventually find their puppy.  This is a great book for preschoolers.  It's simple but keeps their attention.  I love the illustrations and it's fun to find Snowflake hiding on every page.  This one is a new favorite around here.

Our advent activity was making snow pictures.  My eleven year old stepdaughter was here. It was a good thing because Drew declined to participate and this is what Lainey was doing:
Trying to paint her feet
We started by painting some bubble wrap white and stamping it on some blue paper for a snowy sky.
We used toilet paper rolls to stamp on some snowmen and then dressed them up.
Here's the finished product:

Third, I wanted to remind you to go see what Jackie and her boys are reading today at Ready. Set. Read!  You can find all the books and projects on Jackie's 12 Days of Christmas pinboard.

  1. She should have made some footprint snowmen!

I need to search for our copy of A Very Special Snowflake. It's been awhile since we read it.
