Turkey Pretzels

In 'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving , Dav Pilkey turns the classic into a funny Thanksgiving story about a class field trip to a turkey farm.  When the kids discover what's about to happen to the birds, they smuggle them home.  At the end, turkeys are enjoying Thanksgiving dinners of veggies, toast, and jelly at the children's homes, where they are very thankful to not be on the table.  This is the same author as The Captain Underpants Series so there's lots of humor, including a farmer named "Mack Nugget".  This is one that's fun for the adults too.

To go with our story, I made the kids some turkey pretzels.  I did this during nap time, but little ones could easily help.  I started by drawing a turkey on a white paper cup and added some google eyes and construction paper feet.
Then I dipped some pretzel rods in Wilton's candy melts for the feathers.

Elaina loved it and Drew took one bite and spit it out.  Can't win them all, I guess. :)
