When I was thinking about something to go with this book, chestnuts obviously sprang to mind. To be honest, I've never eaten a chestnut. My only chestnut experience is singing about them roasting on an open fire. Do they sell them in the grocery store? How do you make them? Then I thought about a chestnut craft. I'm sure a Google search would turn up tons of cute ideas. BUT while my kids like art projects (especially the messy ones), what they REALLY love are treats. So I finally decided on some Thanksgiving cupcakes that the kids could help decorate. I was inspired by the July Woman's Day cover that featured corn on the cob cupcakes made from white and yellow jelly beans. Instead of searching high and low for the right color jelly beans for the corn, I just grabbed a bag of fall colored M&Ms and we went to town.
She had to sample some before she started.
