I also made a pizza game. I have to be honest and tell you it wasn't a big hit around here. Things started off pretty well:
But here's Drew "taking a rest" about three rolls into it. 30 seconds later he wanted to go outside.
I didn't force it, but in the hopes that your little readers will like it, here's what you need:
- one dice (is that die?)
- brown circles (crust) with 1 written on them - I also added one dot to match the dice
- slightly smaller red circles (sauce) with 2 written on them - 2 dots
- slightly smaller yellow circles (cheese) with 3 - you get the idea
- toppings for 4, 5, and 6 (I used shapes but you could make actual pizza topping shapes)
Each player rolls the dice. When you roll a one, you get the crust, 2 you get the sauce, etc. If a player rolls and already has that piece, they wait for the next turn and try again (that is hard, hard, hard around here!) For older kids, you could require that they get the 1, 2, and 3 in order first but we didn't bother with that. The first player to assemble their entire pizza wins:
This would be cute stored in a clean pizza box and laminated, as it is not very durable. Obviously, I won't be bothering with that. :) I'd love to hear if you try it and whether or not your little ones liked it. I thought it was going to be fun!

This does look like fun! I think it's a really good idea. Maybe it needs more things for each number? Because after he gets a one once, what happens if he gets a second one? If you had more things for each number, you could have LOTS of toppings, or choose your specific topping. So you could have 6 be cheese, mushrooms, OR bacon. I really like this idea.:) I'm going to pin for future reference.:)

Thanks for linking to WMCIR! We haven't read that book even though we did read several other takes on the classic tale. Perhaps making an actual pizza would be a good extension activity for it :)
