Fall Print Trees 2 Ways

Do you remember that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry was dating the woman with "man hands"?  If you missed it, I'll fill you in:  She looked totally normal except that she had these huge, hairy, unattractive hands.  I'm sorry to say that I can totally identify.  Well, except the hairy part.  My hands and feet are really big and my son inherited that from me.  But. I. love. his. hands.  They are ginormous and pudgy and I just love them to pieces.  And my daughter's too.  She still has the dimples on her hands and I just want to eat them right up.  Needless to say, I'm a sucker for handprint art (see my handprint bat post for proof) Today we made two different kinds.

They are pretty self explanatory.  One was made with paint and the other we traced and cut out.  The base of the trees are their feet and the leaves are their hands.  Not a very original idea but I still love them.

To go with our handprint trees we read a great book called Let It Fall that follows a family through some fall activities like helping with the harvest and attending the fair.  It's definitely geared toward younger readers (I would say 3 and under.)

  3. We did this for easter (with green leaves) and easter nests under the tree. Maybe we should do an autumn version.
