Our library is great. The kids love going there. The only problem is that there's so many toys it's hard to get the kids interested in actually picking out books. But this week, Drew saw a book with a soccer ball on the cover and that was that. It came home with us.
Big Kicks is about Biggie the Bear who is asked to fill in for the soccer team. Even though he's big, he knows nothing about playing soccer. He ends up accidentally winning the game and making a bunch of new friends.
I googled looking for a soccer craft or activity to go with our story and saw this at Parents Magazine:
Um, even if I had been in the mood for some baking (which I'm sorry to say I wasn't), my cupcakes don't come out all round and puffy like that. So here's my lazy resourceful mom version:
Paper plates, Oreo 100 calorie packs, and chocolate frosting in baggies with the corner cut off. They LOVED it. What's not to love? Chocolate and sugar and sugar and chocolate.
You could substitute some black licorice whips for the frosting. Less mess but also less chocolate. :)
