DIY Crown

I recently found an origami crown in Origami for Children.  It was super simple to make and I think it would be adorable done in silver or gold paper at a princess party.  It's easy enough that you could even have the kids make their own.

Start with a square piece of paper folded into fourths.

Fold the corners to the center.
Flip the paper over and repeat the same process.
Repeat the last step - flip the paper over and fold toward the center.
Repeat again - flip the paper and fold toward the center (could this be any easier?)
Turn the paper over and pull three of the four triangles open.
Repeat these steps with as many pieces of paper as you need to go around your princess' (or prince's) head.  I think I used 7 for my almost 1 year old.
Link them together by tucking one arm inside the next.
I reinforced it with a little tape because we are none too gentle around here! (I think that's considered cheating in origami, isn't it?)

Here are some of our favorite princess books:

And check out these adorable 5 minute fairy wands to go with your crown over at The Imagination Tree!

Don't forget the fall crawl!  Next stop is Kimba's 2 cents, where she is making delicious spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting!
